Turkish president, Abu Dhabi crown prince hold ‘fruitful’ talks in Ankara

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Nov. 24 met with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Ankara and discussed bilateral relations.

“We had fruitful discussions focusing on ways to strengthen relations between our countries,” Al Nahyan said on Twitter.

“I look forward to exploring new cooperation opportunities to benefit our two nations and advance our mutual development goals,” Al Nahyan noted.

Following one-on-one talks and meeting between delegations of both countries, Erdoğan hosted a dinner in honor of Al Nahyan at the presidential complex.

Earlier, Al Nahyan arrived in the Turkish capital Ankara upon the invitation of Erdoğan.

The crown prince was welcomed by Turkey's Trade Minister Mehmet Mus and other officials at Ankara Esenboğa airport, and Erdoğan held an official welcome ceremony at the presidential complex.

This is his first official visit to Turkey since 2012, and the first top-level meeting between the UAE and Turkey over recent years.

Following his visit to Ankara, Al Nahyan sent a telegram to Erdoğan, thanking him for the warm welcome and hospitality.

 

In his message, Al Nahyan said the visit gave them the opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen the relations between the two countries in a way that would serve common interests, benefit the two friendly peoples, and fulfill their aspirations.

 

Al Nahyan also wished Erdoğan good health and happiness, and the Turkish people lasting security, stability and prosperity.

On Aug. 31, the Turkish president held a phone call with the crown prince in which they discussed bilateral relations and regional issues.

The Emirati state news agency WAM reported that the two discussed during the phone call the "prospects of reinforcing the relations between the two nations in a way that serves their common interests and their two peoples."

Also, on Aug. 18, Erdoğan received the UAE National Security Advisor Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the presidential complex in Ankara, where they discussed bilateral and regional issues as well as UAE investments in Turkey.

Turkey, UAE sign series of cooperation agreements

Turkey and the UAE signed a total of 10 agreements in the fields of energy, environment, finance and trade during Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan’s visit

 

A signing ceremony was held following one-on-one talks between the Turkish president and Abu Dhabi crown prince and an inter-delegation meeting.

 

Turkey and UAE signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the exchange of financial information in order to prevent money laundering and terror financing.

Another MoU was inked between Abu Dhabi Ports Company and Turkey Wealth Fund (TVF).

The Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), the state investment fund of the UAE, and the TVF signed two MoUs.

 

The UAE has allocated $10 billion fund to invest in Turkey, chief executive officer (CEO) of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company announced on Wednesday.

MoUs were also signed between ADQ and Turkey's Presidential Investment Office, and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and Turkey's Borsa Istanbul.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and the Central Bank of the UAE also inked an MoU.

 

The two countries signed an administrative cooperation and partnership agreement on matters pertaining to customs.

Ankara and Abu Dhabi also signed MoUs in the fields of energy and environment.

Earlier, UAE's Industry and Advanced Technology Minister Sultan Al Jaber said they are ready to set new targets for further investment and cooperation in different sectors with Turkey.

UAE allocates $10 bln fund to invest in Turkey, CEO says

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has allocated $10 billion fund to invest in Turkey, chief executive officer (CEO) of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company announced.

CEO Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi told media that the fund has been allocated, following a meeting between Turkish President Erdoğan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Al Nahyan.

Meanwhile, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will visit Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), next month, he announced

The announcement came amid the acceleration of bilateral relations between Abu Dhabi and Ankara as the UAE's Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in the Turkish capital.

 

Speaking to reporters during a signing ceremony at the presidential complex, Çavuşoğlu said that the meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Abu Dhabi crown prince was “very productive.”
